lately, asian american racism has been increasingly normalized, and our identities and experiences are often undermined. why should we need to hide it and not speak up?
there is a significant dearth of teen voices in the literary world, as well as those who share cultural stories about identity. temple lit mag aims to help make up for that lack.
why us?
-
we give asian american youth writers a unique experience to be published for their raw writing that truly reflects themselves. there’s no pressure to be perfect or write like an adult who’s serious about writing. at temple lit mag, you don’t have to force yourself to write something “tolerable.” this is a safe place to discuss your racial identity and culture with no boundaries.
-
temple lit mag offers a free, personalized feedback if you request it on our submission form. you can get feedback from nationally acclaimed writers at your age level to improve your writing as well as submitting to a literary journal.
-
we make our decisions within a week of submission. if you request feedback, this may be extended by another week. if you haven’t heard from us in two weeks, please feel free to email us.

our mission
our mission at temple lit mag is to bring attention to the devaluation of struggles that many asian americans have. we also aim to highlight the distinctive and unique experiences of growing up asian american, and how this combines with teenage thoughts, feelings, and actions.
